Terms of Service
These terms are a contract between you and Robin Food (“we,” “us”) for the Speaking Reflex Chrome extension and this website. By using Speaking Reflex, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
Acceptance
If you do not agree to these terms, do not use Speaking Reflex. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
Product description
Speaking Reflex provides English speaking practice grounded in YouTube videos you watch: you retell what you heard, receive meaning-focused AI feedback, and may answer follow-up questions in the same practice flow.
Beta status
Speaking Reflex is in private beta. Features, limits, and availability may change without notice. The extension may not yet be listed publicly on the Chrome Web Store. We may invite or remove testers at our discretion.
Accounts
AI practice requires signing in with Google through our authentication provider. You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep your Google account secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
Free and Pro plans
Free includes 10 AI practice sessions per 30-day period at no charge. Pro includes 100 AI practice sessions per 30-day period for $6.99 per month (USD), billed through Polar unless you received Pro through a manual beta invite.
An AI practice session is one practice flow on a video segment: your retell, any retries in that flow, and the grounded follow-up conversation. Starting practice on a new segment uses another session.
Usage limits
Limits are enforced on our servers. When you reach your plan limit, new AI practice waits until your period resets or you upgrade. We may apply additional technical caps per session to prevent abuse or runaway API cost.
Recurring subscription
Pro is a monthly subscription that renews automatically until you cancel. Your renewal date is shown in the Polar customer portal when linked to your account.
Billing provider
Polar is merchant of record for paid subscriptions. Payment terms, tax, and invoicing may also be governed by Polar’s policies. Speaking Reflex does not collect or store payment card numbers.
Cancellation
You may cancel Pro at any time through the subscription management link in the extension (Polar customer portal) when available. Cancellation stops future charges; you keep Pro access until the end of the current paid period unless otherwise stated at checkout. Manual Pro access granted for beta testing may be revoked separately; contact support if you have questions.
Refunds
You may cancel at any time; cancellation prevents future subscription renewals. Fees already charged are generally non-refundable, except where required by applicable law or applicable Polar policies. For billing questions, contact robinfood.dev@gmail.com with your account email and a short description. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Abuse, disrupt, or overload the service or our APIs.
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, authentication, or billing.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or resell access except as allowed by law.
- Use the service for unlawful, harmful, or harassing purposes.
Service availability
We strive for reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, third-party outages (YouTube, OpenAI, Supabase, Polar, Cloudflare), or beta changes may affect availability. The service is provided during beta on an “as is” basis to the extent permitted by law.
AI-generated feedback
Feedback and follow-up content are generated by AI and may be incomplete or incorrect. Speaking Reflex focuses on whether you captured meaning, not on certifying grammar or professional communication. It is not a substitute for teachers, tutors, or professional advice.
Your responsibility
You must comply with YouTube’s terms and any rights restrictions on content you practice with. You are responsible for your speech and for using the microphone only where you have permission to record.
Intellectual property
We own Speaking Reflex software, branding, and site content except third-party materials. You retain rights in your own speech and content. We receive only the limited rights needed to operate the service as described in the Privacy Policy.
Third-party services
YouTube, Google, OpenAI, Supabase, Polar, Cloudflare, and other third parties provide content or infrastructure we do not control. Your use of those services is subject to their terms.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or pose a security or abuse risk. Subscription status after termination is handled through Polar for paying customers. Sections that by nature should survive (including disclaimers and limitations) will survive termination.
Disclaimer and limitation
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Speaking Reflex and related services are provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Robin Food will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us for Pro in the twelve months before the claim or (b) fifty US dollars, except where liability cannot be limited under applicable law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Vietnam will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page with an updated date. Material changes may also be communicated through the extension or by email when appropriate. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
